Monday, May 8th At Sea.
Another lovely day. I wrote letters to Papa, Will & E.B.V.K, read Shadow of the Sword, studied[?] Pole and played ten games of Whist. I had a long talk with Mr Lee about wood carving. He tells me that the best tools are to be found at Wilkinsons on Wash. St bet Cornhill & State, Addis or Buck the makers. Grace sick. Sat out late watching clouds. We have seen no fine sunsets yet. Will "retire to my slats" as Mr Townsend says. Flap jacks for supper.
