Monday May 1st At Sea.
A glorious day - sea fog in early morning but cleared after. I stayed in bed - unwell - until after dinner. Miss Smith miserable. We lay there listening to the conversations outside all on the stomach, how long breakfast was kept down, etc. Modesty, pride all gone, Louis would bring us a vile soup, an occasional beef steak, a cup of tea and we would send him flying as fast as he brought it. After dinner got up and stayed on quarter deck until 9 P.M. - The moon nearly full, singing from the young men & Mrs Robertson. Heavenly - never want to go ashore again. Seasickness gone. Weather milder, 11 knots an hour. In the Gulf Stream at 2 P.M.
